Beaches and dunes

Van der Valk Hotel The Hague - Wassenaar is close to the coast, giving you a choice of several nearby beaches. The beaches and dunes are a pleasure in every season! In summer you can cool off in the sea and then enjoy the sun with your feet in the sand and a drink in your hand. In winter you can go for a refreshing walk and then have a cup of hot chocolate.

There is also a wide choice of luxury beach clubs on all the beaches, where you can have drinks on the terrace. There is also plenty of space for the kids to play and build sandcastles. Dogs are allowed in most places, but there are more restrictions during the summer season, so check this before you leave.

Scheveningen

At the beach of Scheveningen you will find the well-known Boulevard, Promenade and Pier. Around the beach there are several attractions, such as the Beelden aan Zee museum, Sea Life, and you can even go bungee jumping! The nightlife on the Zwarte Pad is also vibrant, and there is a Holland Casino and the AFAS Circustheater.

Wassenaarse Slag

The Meijendel nature reserve around the beach is an experience in itself: via a road through the beautiful dunes you arrive at the secluded beach access, the Wassenaarse Slag. On the expansive beach you will find a number of beach clubs.

Katwijk

The beach at Katwijk is clean and easily accessible. From March to October there are many beach pavilions.

Kijkduin

Kijkduin beach is a somewhat smaller-scale version of Scheveningen. In the dunes of Kijkduin you can find James Turrell's 'Hemels Gewelf', an artificial grassy crater made to lie in and look at the sky.

Noordwijk

In Noordwijk there is a shopping street with nice boutiques. On the beach itself you can find cozy, hip beach clubs in summer, where you can also rent a beach bed.
