Haagse Bos

Haagse Bos — the green gateway to The Hague! It is the oldest forest in the Netherlands and about 100 hectares in size. In the forest there are Huis ten Bosch Palace, places to sit in the park and several play areas for children. There is even a Haagse Bos app with a puzzle trail! Ideal for a lovely walk!
Scheveningse Bosjes

From The Hague toward Scheveningen beach you can also find the Scheveningse Bosjes. The flora and fauna here are special and diverse due to influences from other European countries. For example, Austrian pines that resist drifting sand grow here, and because of an old Roman fort the Roman snail (vineyard snail) also inhabits the area!
Panbos - Pan van Persijn

A special forest with lots of entertainment for young and old! Pan van Persijn is a walking and play forest with duck ponds, play equipment and a deer enclosure. For the most part the forest is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Landgoed de Horsten

De Horsten is a large nature and walking area on the edge of Wassenaar. It connects the estates Eikenhorst, Raaphorst and Ter Horst. From 2003 to 2019 King Willem-Alexander lived with his family in Villa Eikenhorst on the estate.
Meijendel Nature Reserve

Meijendel is an extensive nature and dune area with many cycling, walking and bridle paths. The Wassenaarse Slag beach is located in Meijendel. In the wooded part is the Monkeybos, where children can play, climb trees and build forest huts.
Nieuwe Driemanspolder

The Nieuwe Driemanspolder is a recreational area with cycling, walking and bridle paths. It is even accessible by boat. There is also a playground made from untreated wood. The beautiful polder landscape with three Leidschendam windmills is definitely worth a visit!
Madestein Recreation Area

Madestein is part of the same area as the Ockenburgh estate and the De Uithof recreation area. Again there are many nice paths to be found and there is a recreational lake for swimming. It is close to Kijkduin beach and has a sports complex, an urban farm, and community gardens.
Vlietland Recreation Area

Vlietland is suitable for cycling and walking and can also be reached on horseback or by boat. At the lake you can rent pedal boats, canoes, sailboats, motorboats and rowing boats. There is even a climbing park and a water fun park with trampolines and slides.
