Go back 100 years in the steam locomotive! Take a ride and visit the narrow-gauge museum.

The steam locomotive

Great fun with the kids! Visitors board the steam train at Katwijk Leiden station on the edge of the Valkenburg Lake. The locomotive is a little local train that many grandparents still remember from their youth. On the ride the authentic atmosphere has been preserved: the conductor blows his whistle at departure, throws a few more coals on the fire and passengers enjoy the view from the wooden carriages.

The museum

In the museum the atmosphere of the past has also been preserved. There are antique carriages, including steam and diesel locomotives, and the driver's office still has his jacket with an oil lamp hanging. There is a tremendous amount of history to discover in the museum, and it is perfect for children.

Check the train timetable and the museum's opening hours before departure on the website of the narrow-gauge museum.
